Naboo - the night of the Knighting ceremony
They say that life is a quest for meaning. That to truly *live* your life, there are questions that must constantly be asked. No answer is ever final, nor is it absolute. Many answers simply present new questions.
The point, the reason to continue, is to find answers, and more questions.
If a shark stops swimming it will die.
Similarly, if a human being does not seek answers, can they honestly say they are living their life to the full?
Some questions seem easy to answer, but even those answers lead to questions.
To ask if you are happy is such a question.
If the answer is yes, the most obvious question becomes "How do I stay happy?". If the answer is no, then it becomes "What do I need to change?"
The cycle of questions and answer is unending. Like the Force, it is as diverse as life itself.
And the hardest question of all to answer honestly, especially when asked by one you love, is "What are you thinking?"
This question, which Arrisa is asking you right now, is hardest because there is no right answer, no matter how obvious it may seem. Merely being asked the question changes the direction of you thoughts, so that the answer you give is no longer correct... |

Smirking at the improbability of ever answering that question and being right, Torren looks at Arrisa, then her swelling belly, and replies "I've just been wondering how my mother would have felt about my being Knighted tonight..." He trails off and his smirk fades with the somber declaration. |

Arrisa offers you a sympathetic smile, then takes your hand in hers.
"She'd be proud of you" she says, her voice completely sincere.
"And I don't just mean for earning your Knighthood"
With that, she draws your hand to her belly and holds it there so you can feel the new life growing within.
"She'd be proud of this too. Our baby. I want you to believe that, because I do" |

Trying to play off his misgivings, Torren smiles, lays his other hand on her belly, then turns his eyes to Arrisa's. "I know she'd be proud of being a Grandmother to be... but becoming a Jedi during these dark times... its like I took all the sacrifices she made to hide me and threw them to the wayside. I'm just not sure this would be what she wanted..."
Before Arrisa is able to protest, he goes on "Don't get me wrong, I feel everything that has happened is for the best and I wouldn't want to change the way my life headed..." *sighing* "... I just can't help but think that there were reasons I'll never know of for why she tried so hard to hide this life from me." |

"Torren, look at me" Arrisa says firmly, reaching out with her free hand to lift your chin slightly so that your eyes meet.
"Things are different now to how they were when the last war ended and when it was happening. Trying to make you a Jedi anywhere in the Empire, or under the noses of the Hutts would have been suicide. Your mother had to hide you to protect you because she had no support network; no backup. Things are different now. The Alliance exists for starters. We have good people backing us up, and we live on a world where being a Jedi is a good thing. The time and place weren't right for your mother to give you your birthright. But for us, they are. Now that you can be a Jedi and have somewhere safe to do so, you can claim it, and you have. She would be proud of you for the lives you've saved, the stand you've made, and the future that you're working to build. It was just a circumstance thing. Being a Jedi doesn't make us all-powerful. We need friends and allies" |

I see the wisdom in your words and can't argue them." Torren says, smiles and then kisses Arrisa on the cheek.
Feeling reassured, he separates from her long enough to grab a drink, then sits next to her again and says "So... what are our plans today?" |

Arrisa sighs, then looks thoughtful for a moment.
"Well, the obvious priority is helping to fix the city" she says softly, "I'm just glad the people aren't the type to misplace the blame onto us. Another thing we need to do is work with the people that you guys liberated from the Pit of Despair, to help them to understand their potential, their responsibilities, and the dangers of revenge. And I really need to talk to Jayce. I could feel that he was a bit conflicted about being named a Jedi Knight" |

"Hmm, sounds like we're going to have our hands full then... I suppose I can gather the people we rescued and talk with them for a bit, then maybe see about getting them to help with the recovery efforts...?" Torren replies, shrugging his shoulders a bit at the end and looking inquisitively at Arrisa. |

Arrisa smiles warmly up at you.
"That seems like a good idea, honey" she murmurs, before she suddenly looks very sick.
"Oh, not good" she groans then throws off the bedclothes and bolts for the refresher. |

Sending his love to Arrisa through the Force, Torren says "Hon, you sure you want to do anything today... maybe you should take it easy, hmm?" |

Some time later, Arrisa emerges from the refresher.
"Ok, I think I'm better now" she says softly, resting a hand on her stomach.
"As long as this little one doesn't have any other ideas, I should be ok to work"
She smiles at you.
"This isn't going to be easy though. We're going to be changing a lot of the methods of the old Jedi Order so that we don't become isolated and an easy target like they were. I want us to be much more rounded than before so it's harder for our enemies to focus on our weaknesses" |

"How so, Love, I was never a part of the old Order?" Torren asks as he gets Arrisa something to eat and drink... |

Arrisa follows you into the kitchen and takes a seat so she doesn't have to talk too loudly.
"Well for one thing, there was the stupid 'no attachments' rule" she says.
"Under the old Order, Jedi weren't allowed to have relationships, weren't allowed to have children, weren't allowed to know their families once they were taken into the Order. We were shut up inside the Temple for the whole of our childhood. It was like a whole other universe compared to the rest of the galaxy. So much of our training centred on the fact that we weren't like other people that leaving the Temple for the first time was just an incredible culture shock. It wasn't really until we got paired up with a single Master that we got beyond that. Master Bosskar was one of the few Jedi Masters who really seemed to respect the rest of the galaxy. She taught me to learn what I could do without the Force first, then how I could apply the Force to it. My pilot training for instance. I went to a flight academy. I earned my wings without the Force, and then I learned how to apply the Force to my piloting to make me even better. During the Corporate War, we were two of the very few Jedi who actually knew when we weren't needed. Though given the enemy numbers, those times were rare, but we knew what the Clones could handle and what they couldn't. Sorry, I'm getting away from the point. Isolation, hiding behind the Force, and a superior attitude based on our ability to use the Force are what made the old Jedi Order easier to kill. I want us to be much more well-rounded. I don't want Master Bosskar's way to be the exception, I want it to be the rule. Knowing how to use the Force is far less important than knowing when to use it" |

Listening intently as she speaks, Torren mulls it over a bit before responding. "Well, I'm fairly certain things are already different. Most of us had lives and experience before becoming Jedi. That alone will change the tone of our training. Add to that, that we have to adapt to doing things under the thumb of the Empire... well, I just doesn't think things can ever be the same... even if we wanted it to be." |

"You're probably right" Arrisa admits, idly rubbing her belly.
"I just don't want to screw this up. We need to have a proper system in place for the next generation. And unlike the old Jedi, I'm not going to be telling Jayce and Arriana that they're doing everything wrong. They're doing what the Jedi should've always done. Those who can use the Force are part of the community where they come from instead of being isolated" |

Torren takes Arrisa by her shoulders, kisses her forehead, then smiles and says "Honey, don't worry... I'm sure you're going to do a great job. Just remember that we're here to help too, okay? It doesn't have to be on your shoulders alone."
Releasing her, he puts the food he'd been cooking on a plate, then serves it to her. After getting Arrisa some more juice, he continues "But before we have to deal with that, we need to help these people we saved heal... I can feel their pain. It's like walking through a thick, oily smoke whenever I get close to them..." |

"I know" Arrisa murmurs gently, frowning slightly.
"About the only one who doesn't... hurt is the girl; Mara. Maybe I missed something, but when I look at her in the Force, I see wonder, and drive but no pain. Obviously what they did to her was nothing like what they did to the others"
She shakes her head and sighs.
"Maybe I should ask Cruix what he sees. More opinions can't hurt, right?" |

"That is a good idea. He may have insight in this area that we lack a feel for..." Torren returns, scrunching his brow in thought...

Cruix is in his room tending to his wounds from the previous adventure. Pausing only to glimpse as people pass by his room. When he finishes he lays down a decorative mat removes his head band and begins to meditate.
(During this meditation he is practicing using the force) _________________ http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=61742 |

Coming out of his vision, Torren says "Well, Cruix seems to be meditating at the present... should we see what he can gleam or let him do his thing for awhile?" |
